It is not professional advice, and it is not a diagnosis. A technique that succeeded here may kill an equivalent tree in a wetter, colder, hotter or windier place, in different soil, or with different water. You are responsible for what you do to your own plants, for the tools you use, and for your own safety while using them. Wire cutters, concave cutters, carving tools and root hooks are sharp; some soils and wound sealants are irritants.
